On Thursday, March 23, GMHC held its 35th Anniversary Spring Gala and honored President Bill Clinton, founder of the Clinton Foundation; Peter Staley, HIV/AIDS and LGBT activist; and Jes Staley, CEO of Barclays.

Over 400 people attended the gala, which featured a performance by Tony Award winner Billy Porter as well as a performance by Tony Award winner Michael Cerveris and Tony-nominated actress Beth Malone. The event raised over $700,000, which will benefit the thousands of New Yorkers who receive GMHC services each year.

Chelsea Clinton accepted the Judith Peabody Humanitarian Award on her father’s behalf. President Clinton was honored for his work through the Clinton Foundation, which has worked to reduce HIV transmission, provide access to treatment in 70 countries and make HIV medication available for over 11.5 million people.

GMHC is the world’s first HIV/AIDS service organization. The nonprofit provides HIV testing, prevention, nutrition, legal, supportive housing, mental health and substance use services. For more info, visit gmhc.org.
