Although I tested positive in 1985, I only told my partner who then got tested as positive. We told no one. It was not until 1995 when I had a series of severe health scares that I told my family and a few close friends. No one needed to know until then, as I was concerned things might go sour, but certainly never my employer. Employer based insurances can be affected by disclosure as well as employers making incorrect opinions about how well you can carry out your job duties.

I was also diagnosed in 2016 while trying to secure my reenlistment. Worst feeling ever. As a fellow solider, who can no longer serve due to my status, be strong gentlemen.
