Two new leaders have joined the AIDS United team: John E. Roane Jr. is vice president of operations, and Valerie L. Rochester is vice president for strategic grantmaking and capacity building, according to a press release from the group.

AIDS United is a national organization that fights to end the epidemic through grant-making initiatives, capacity building, research and policy.

Roane, who started at AIDS United on May 15, was previously the chief operating officer of the Association of American Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine. He has 17 years of nonprofit executive experience and has served on the board of directors of Us Helping Us, People Into Living. He also volunteers with Food & Friends.

Rochester brings over 20 years of experience working for underserved and under-resourced communities and most recently served as director of programs and training for the Black Women’s Health Imperative.

“John and Valerie have strong professional acumen and deep commitment to social justice,” said AIDS United president and CEO Jesse Milan Jr. in the press release. “They are the right fit for AIDS United.”
