I’m disappointed in the language used in this article. Activists have fought hard to be recognized as living with HIV rather than “having” HIV. “more likely to have HIV” >>> “more likely to contract HIV”. “more than 90% of new HIV diagnoses for Black women result from having sex with men” >>> “more than 90% of new HIV diagnoses for Black women result from heterosexual transmission” — language that doesn’t blame. “discrimination…because of her positive HIV status“ >>> “…due to stigma”
