I was shunned by my family for being hiv pos. I moved back to my reserve (Mistawasis First Nation) to be with my grandma (mom) and they said and did awful things to me. while my mom was in the hosp they used that to kick me out of the house. my mom was very sad , alone during my absence. now, a year later ,no calls no visits no contact with her whatsoever. shes85 now and I found out from a stranger that lives in the closest town to the rez that they put her in a home. im tryna raise awareness

It's great news that we have good science to support U=U, and I fully understand the desire to be able to have sex "au naturel" without worry. However, I can think of at least one valid reason to be cautious. Monitoring viral load for stable patients is every six months. Regimens sometimes fail, and a viral rebound could occur shortly after the last undetectable result - just as someone can acquire HIV shortly after testing negative. Having said that, laws need to be reformed.

To breeddeepnow: not claiming the information you provide is false. the studies observed other people getting infected during trials while having an undetectable partners. When comparing DNA strains of virus they realized the virus didn't come from the undetectable partners. Highly doubtful that a sex clinic would ever do a DNA comparison, it would make headlines on they would amanzily confirm a transmission from undetectable viral load. Those are very most likely infection from another source.

Like other commenters, I am encouraged by the idea that Undetectable means uninfectious, and PrEP has certainly changed the game in terms of reducing fear. But I remain concerned that we are very far from the 90/90/90 goal (% diagnosed, % retained in care, % undetectable). Some of the data shows that among certain areas of the US (especially in the South) the % undetectable is below 50%. I worry that the term is thrown around incorrectly. Drug use in the mix also makes me question undetectable

I asked this question at my health clinic (newly diagnosed) they told me that 2 people were infected this year both people's partners were undetectable. They said the pos men had Sti that caused them to be more infectious. So yes indeed it still can happen if you have another STI. Melbourne sexual health clinic told me this no more than 3 days ago

This is one of the best news I have read in many years. I have been celibate and single for many years hoping for a day for a normal life. Living with the stigma, being judged and loneliness has been a way of life for me. With this I hope to finally meet someone who will treat me like a human being again and not an alien. During my journey I have met people and the minute I disclose my status , I automatically get judged and back to being lonely again. This is great news. Thanks Mark
