I was sick in late 1979 diagnosed in 1983. They grew the virus from my blood. If I can live all those years, and being an advocate for gay people. Now at 64 years young have lived with HIV For about 40 years. Well u can do it also. Back then there were no drugs. Eventually I started AZT. Now I am on five drugs in three pills. I take them when I get up, so I do not have to think about. Back then people were scared. At first they they did not know it was a hard to get virus...MAT

Thank you for sharing your experience! I think it’s so important to share the message of U=U, to decrease stigma and fear. As a pharmacist working in an HIV Clinic and PrEP clinic, I make sure to educate people on U=U, whether they’re living with HIV or trying to prevent it (and also to friends and random strangers I meet who ask me about what I do). Thanks again for sharing...it’s so important to get out this message!!
