Position Purpose

The MSM Prevention Specialist is responsible for providing direct prevention education services, outreach and testing in Milwaukee to individuals engaging in high risk behaviors such as men who have sex with men and people who inject drugs. In addition, this position will provide anonymous and confidential counseling and testing for HIV, HCV and STIs.

Scope of Responsibilities

The AIDS Resource Center of Wisconsin (ARCW) is one of the nation’s largest providers of HIV prevention, care and treatment services with a budget approaching $100 million and more than 225 employees. The unique, nationally recognized ARCW HIV Medical Home model of care assures that everyone with HIV has access to medical, dental, mental health and social services and provides the best opportunity for patients to achieve high quality health outcomes. ARCW also provides aggressive HIV preventions services to gay men, injection drug users and others at the highest risk for HIV infection.

ARCW operates in the states of Wisconsin and Colorado, embraces a Market Culture to increase access to care, enhance quality outcomes and achieve and surpass financial performance expectations and has an aggressive plan to expand into additional states.

Position Responsibilities
1. Work with the Associate Director on researching, designing and implementing comprehensive HIV Prevention programming and testing to target men who have sex with men.

2. Perform regular ongoing outreach to bars, barber shops and public venues frequented by men who have sex with men including materials and condom distribution, engaging men in conversations about HIV and other health related topics, referral into appropriate community resources, and HIV/HCV counseling, testing and referral (CTR) services.

3. Establish and staff counseling, testing, and referral sites in the Milwaukee area targeting men who have sex with men.

4. Record all contacts and activities into Service Point within 72 hours.

5. Provide service delivery statistics on a monthly basis and develop public and private grant reports as required.

6. Actively plan and participate in community events, such as Pride Fest, that offer the ability to provide effective prevention outreach to large populations of MSM.

7. Provide PrEP referrals to the ARCW PrEP Clinic as part of CTR and outreach responsibilities.

8. Network with other ARCW regional offices, community based organizations, and other providers to develop effective prevention strategies to reach the gay community.

9. Regularly report to the Associate Director on all activities through biweekly personal management interviews.

10. Attend all training and educational sessions and all staff meetings as assigned.

11. Assist with Lifepoint Prevention Activities when assigned.

12. Implement special projects and perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications

• Position has a high potential for exposure to infectious materials.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time (2+hours)
